Walking Canes Fancy Canes in Detail

Sunday, April 30, 2006

Now we’ll spend some time going into detail about a few of my favorite fancy canes offered by Fashionable Canes.com. The selection is so large, it’s hard to choose just a few to feature. Fancy canes are so beautiful you almost don’t want to use them; however they are perfect for both regular use as well as a special occasion or for collecting. So for the next few articles I’ll be going through some of the fine fancy canes we have available.

Tourist Sword Walking Cane: Made by the reputable company Fayet who have been making high quality canes since 1909, this silver plated tourist-handled walking cane is a work of art with a hidden surprise. Inisde is a 26” sword that will make you feel comfortable and is a real conversation piece. The handle’s silver plating is thick enough that it will not wear away over time. The cane is 37” and cannot be custom cut because of the blade inside. The sword cane weighs just 1.35 pounds.

Scrimshaw Canes: Scrimshaw is an ancient art form but it really came to fame when the world found that President Kennedy collected it. It is traditionally made from whalebone or ivory pieces. A picture is etched out of the whalebone or ivory and then ink is filled into the etching to bring out the picture. Since of course no whalebones or ivory can be used in the US today, the canes offered on Fashionable Canes.com are made from an authentic looking resin material and kiln finished to resist splintering and breakage. These canes are a perfect addition to a collector’s collection or for a fancy affair. The detail etched into the resin is really amazing to look at.

The next post will also discuss some more fancy canes offered on Fashionable Canes.com
